Overview
Fire-safety assistants support the operational fire safety organisation and fight incipient fires only for as long as this is possible without endangering themselves. The training follows ASR A2.2 (German technical rules for workplaces) and DGUV Information 205-023 (DGUV = the German Social Accident Insurance institutions and their regulations) and is matched to the fire risk and the operational conditions.
Training content
The training covers the principles of preventive fire protection, the operational fire safety organisation, hazards from fires, conduct in the event of fire and the function and mode of operation of firefighting equipment. A practical exercise conveys the safe handling of typical extinguishers and the limits of fighting an incipient fire.
Number of fire-safety assistants
How many fire-safety assistants are required is determined by the employer on the basis of the risk assessment, the fire risk, attendance, shift working and operational particulars. For a normal fire risk, ASR A2.2 generally cites five per cent of employees as sufficient. Absences and an increased fire risk may require a higher proportion.
Outcome and scope
Participants receive an ADLER Academy training record as “fire-safety assistant”. The specific course scope is determined on the basis of the fire risk, the operational organisation, the number of participants and the exercise setup, and is stated in the quotation.
