Welding technology, pipefitting and qualification tests

ADLER Academy provides hands-on qualification for pipefitters and welders, prepares candidates for tests to DIN EN ISO 9606-1 and assesses skilled technical staff under simulated site conditions.

Overview

The offering comprises pipefitter courses, welding courses for TIG, MMA, MIG and MAG, welder qualification tests to DIN EN ISO 9606-1:2017-12 and task-specific qualification tests. The scope of training and the test objective are matched to prior knowledge, process, material, weld type, position and later use.

Welding courses teach the fundamentals of welding technology and intensive practice on pipes and plates, up to constrained positions, under near-site conditions. They prepare for an agreed test scope but do not replace the separate welder qualification test. In the test to DIN EN ISO 9606-1, the welder demonstrates their skill for a clearly defined range of qualification.

The pipefitter course combines isometrics, P&ID flow diagrams, measurement, prefabrication, alignment and installation of piping. In addition, in-company qualification tests provide a documented assessment of the practical skills of welders, pipefitters, industrial insulators and scaffolders. Such a test report does not replace any statutory or standards-based proof of competence or certification.

Pipefitter course in plant and piping construction

How do you read isometrics and P&ID flow diagrams? How do you measure, fabricate and install piping under realistic site conditions?

In this course you learn to translate pipe routing from technical documents and to prepare the necessary work steps independently. You practise measuring, prefabricating, aligning, installing and documenting on realistic training rigs.

Theory and practice mesh directly. Assembly welds are prepared and tacked, components are aligned to coordinates, and the completed work is finally checked and documented.

How do you produce sound welded joints, even under site conditions and in constrained positions?

Our courses combine the fundamentals of welding technology with intensive practice. You work with equipment and conditions typical of plant and piping construction. The scope of training is matched to your prior knowledge, the chosen welding process, the materials and the intended test objective.

The training can be supplemented by a four-week in-company practical phase at suitable plant and piping construction firms.

Welder qualification test to DIN EN ISO 9606-1

In the welder qualification test, you demonstrate that you can produce welded joints properly within the agreed range of qualification. The test piece, welding process, material group, dimensions, weld type and welding position are clearly defined before the test.

On request, the test can be carried out under realistic site conditions on a model rig. Requirements of the DVGW code of practice GW 350 (a German gas and water industry technical rule) are taken into account where they are relevant to the specific contract, the piping system and the examining body.

Our qualification tests support companies in planning the deployment of employees and contractors on technical grounds. Using defined tasks and assessment criteria, you demonstrate your working method, technical knowledge and safety focus on a realistic model rig.

The test report documents the performance shown at the time of the test. It does not replace any statutory or standards-based proof of competence, training or certification.

Is the course record already a welder qualification certificate?

No. The course prepares for the test objective. A welder qualification certificate is issued only after a separate, successfully passed test by the responsible examiner or the agreed examining body.
