Training for crane operators
In line with DGUV Grundsatz 309-003 (a code of practice issued by the DGUV, the German Social Accident Insurance institutions and their regulations), the training is matched to the selected crane type: floor-operated bridge and overhead travelling cranes, slewing jib cranes and rail-mounted trolleys, as well as truck-mounted loader cranes and recovery cranes.
In this training you learn to operate the designated crane safely. You practise crane control, slinging and moving loads, communication by hand signals and correct behaviour during malfunctions.
The training comprises theory, practice and a final examination. Before operating independently, company familiarisation with the crane in use and authorisation by the employer are also required.
Who should attend
People who will operate cranes of the selected type in future or who need to update their existing qualification.
Basic training
Participation requirements: minimum age 18 and physical and mental aptitude for the work. The type and scope of the training depend on the crane type, operating conditions and prior knowledge.
Completion and duration: certificate of competence and a personal crane operator card for the crane type covered; planned day module of 1 day / 8 teaching hours.
Depending on the crane type, prior knowledge and practical exercise time, further training days may be required.
Annual instruction
Participation requirements: an existing certificate of competence for the relevant crane type is required.
Completion and duration: continuing-education and instruction record from ADLER Academy; duration 3 teaching hours.

Does a crane operator card apply to every type of crane?
No. Training, examination and the record must cover the crane type and its particular requirements.
What else is required after passing the examination?
