Environmental management to ISO 14001
ISO 14001 provides a framework with which companies can systematically consider their environmental impacts and environmental performance. This includes relevant environmental aspects, legal and other obligations, risks and opportunities, environmental objectives, operational control, emergency preparedness and the evaluation of results.

For existing systems, a gap analysis is carried out against ISO 14001:2026. This is not just a comparison of documents. What matters is which changes leadership, strategy, environmental conditions, the value chain, performance evaluation and operational implementation actually require.
For certified organisations, ISO indicates a transition within the timeframe set by the certification cycle and the relevant bodies, typically around three years. A blanket, binding end date is therefore only given once the transition rule relevant to the specific certification procedure is available and has been agreed with the certification body.
