Measurement, quantity take-off and material take-off

ADLER determines dimensions and quantities from technical documents or by on-site measurement and prepares them for estimating, procurement, execution and documentation.

Overview

The scope covers the measurement of piping and components, quantity extracts from isometrics, material take-offs, parts lists and 2D isometrics from suitable field or measurement sketches. Which characteristics are captured, and in what structure they are output, follows the intended use.

Determining quantities where they are needed

Quantities form the basis for bids, material orders, installation planning and billing. ADLER combines the evaluation of existing isometrics with on-site measurement where the actual as-built condition has to be captured.

The output follows the agreed purpose: as an MTO, parts list, measurement summary or 2D isometric. Identifiable gaps and deviations in the drawing status are flagged in a traceable way.

Service models

Project and Support Services cover on-site measurement and recurring quantity determination. As a Specific Task Service, quantities can be evaluated on a desk basis from supplied isometrics or sketches.

Scope of services

  • On-site measurement of piping and components
  • Pipe lengths, fittings, valves and flanges
  • Welds by agreed characteristics
  • Areas for coating or insulation
  • Material and parts lists
  • 2D isometrics with markings and fabrication sections
  • Quantity preparation for estimating, procurement or billing

Frequently asked questions

What is a material take-off?

A material take-off is a structured quantity extract from drawings or models. It can include, among other things, pipes, fittings, valves, flanges, welds and areas.

Can measurements be produced remotely?

The evaluation of complete drawings can be done remotely. Capturing the actual as-built condition regularly requires an on-site measurement or a suitable supplied field survey.
