ISO 9001 — quality management

ADLER CertConsulting supports companies in building up and further developing a quality management system to ISO 9001:2015, including Amendment 1:2024.

Overview

ISO 9001 advisory helps companies to manage customer requirements, processes, responsibilities and improvements systematically. ADLER CertConsulting reviews the current situation, develops suitable arrangements with those responsible and prepares internal audits, the management review and the external certification procedure. At present, ISO 9001:2015 together with Amendment 1:2024 is the authoritative basis. As of 3 August 2026, the next edition is still going through the publication process.

The standard

ISO 9001 can be applied regardless of industry and size. The standard does not require a particular organisational model or a blanket, extensive management manual. What matters is that the company understands its context and relevant requirements, controls its processes, assigns responsibilities, addresses risks and opportunities and evaluates the effectiveness of its quality management.

Approach and preparation

ADLER CertConsulting starts from actual company practice. In the gap analysis, existing procedures, customer requirements, key figures, documents and records are compared with the standard. Building on this, the necessary processes and arrangements are developed together. Staff and process owners are involved so that the solution works in day-to-day operations.

Preparation for the independent certification includes internal audits and the management review. Findings are evaluated and actions tracked. The external certification body then carries out the certification audit and decides on the certificate.

Standard status and revision

As of 3 August 2026, ISO 9001:2015 remains the published requirements standard. Amendment 1:2024 adds the consideration of climate change in the context of the organisation and for relevant requirements of interested parties. The forthcoming sixth edition is in publication at ISO and is currently expected for September 2026. Until it is actually published and a defined transition rule is in place, it is not presented as a valid basis for certification.

Frequently asked questions

Which edition of ISO 9001 is current?

As of 3 August 2026, ISO 9001:2015 together with Amendment 1:2024 is the published basis. The next edition is still going through the publication process and will only be treated as binding once it is actually published and a defined transition is in place.

Does a small company need an extensive quality management manual?

No. The extent and form of documented information depend on activities, complexity, risks and the need for evidence. A clear, manageable system can be more appropriate for a small company than an extensive manual.

Does ISO 9001 require a quality management representative?

ISO 9001:2015 does not generally require a person with the title of quality management representative. However, responsibilities and authorities must be clearly assigned. External support can complement internal staff.

Does ADLER CertConsulting certify the quality management?

No. ADLER CertConsulting advises and prepares. An independent certification body carries out the external audit and decides on the certificate.
